Existing installations focus on aesthetics and expression, but leave a gap for a recognisable structure between sound and visual behaviours. Several studies point to sound as an embodied experience, engaging more than just the auditory sense. This project is an exploration in how visuals can express the emotions present within music.
The final system translates the low, mid, and high frequency bands of an audio input into a visual composition. A MIDI interface allows manual control of visual postprocessing effects and real-time user interaction.
